Senior BJP leader Jaswant Singh's son Manvendra Singh is all set to join the Congress in Rajasthan. Manvendra's move comes just 23 days after he quit the BJP. The sitting MLA from Sheo is expected to join the Congress on Wednesday, along with his wife.

Manvendra's decision to join confirms the speculations that were doing rounds after his exit from the party. However, he had then denied that he would be joining the Congress. Earlier, Manvendra and his wife had hit out at the BJP and the Vasundhara Raje-led dispensation at a rally in Rajasthan's Barmer. Singh quit from the BJP on September 22 during the Swabhiman rally at Pachpadra in Barmer. Rajasthan goes to polls on December 7.

Jaswant Singh is said to have strained ties with the BJP after he was denied a ticket during the 2014 general elections. Miffed with the party decision, he left the BJP and contested as an independent candidate but lost to BJP's Colonel (Retd.) Sonaram Chaudhary. Manvendra, in fact, had campaigned for his father during the Lok Sabha election.

Manvendra's move is seen as a booster dose for the Congress in Rajasthan, where, exit poll reports claim the party has a clear chance in the upcoming assembly elections against the BJP.

Three other BJP members—Usha Punia, Pratibha Singh and Ghanshyam Tiwari—had also left the saffron party alleging that party workers were being neglected.
