A video that went viral on the social media has ended up in the arrest of one Rohit Tomar, son of Delhi Police sub-inspector Ashok Singh Tomar. The man was seen brutally thrashing a woman in the video, which was filmed by his friend. The incident is said to have happened in Tilak Nagar area of Delhi.
However, it was the prompt action of another woman named Jyoti that landed Rohit in jail. Rohit had sent the video to Jyoti to threaten and scare her into marrying him. The duo were reportedly dating before the girl decided to part ways after Rohit turned abusive.
The video went viral on social media, with leaders like Babul Supriyo, sharing it on Twitter.

The police in West Delhi registered an FIR and arrested the accused Rohit on Friday, following intervention from Home Minister Rajnath Singh. The minister had on Friday directed Delhi Police Commissioner Amulya Patnaik to take necessary action against the man for severely beating up the woman. "I have taken note of a video where a youth has been seen severely beating a woman. I have spoken to the Delhi Police Commissioner over the phone and directed him to take necessary action in this regard," Singh tweeted.
Tomar has been arrested and sent to one-day police remand by a local court.
