Even as fasting Patidar leader Hardik Patel, reportedly, sought to be discharged from the hospital on Saturday, a meeting took place between representatives of the Gujarat government and Patidar organisations.

Patel was admitted to Sola Civil Hospital in Ahmedabad on Friday afternoon after he complained of difficulty in breathing. Later, at night, he was shifted to SGVP Hospital.

On the 15th day of his fast, on Saturday, DMK leader A. Raja, leader of Loktantrik Janata Dal Sharad Yadav and activist Swami Agnivesh met him.

Sources in the Patidar Anamat Andolan Samiti (PAAS) said that Patel has demanded that he be discharged from the hospital.

Patel's medical reports are, reportedly, normal.

Sources also said that a meeting is likely to be held between Patidar leaders and state government on Sunday to bring about a solution to Patel's hunger strike. Naresh Patel of Khodaldham, a socio-religious organisation of the Patidars, is expected to lead the Patidar organisations to hold talks with the state government.

Patel is demanding loan waiver for farmers and reservation for Patidars in jobs and education. He is adamant that he would not break his fast until his demands are met. PAAS is also demanding release of its member Alpesh Kathiria who was arrested some time back on the charges of sedition slapped on him two years ago.

Yadav told mediapersons that he fully supported Patel on his demand of loan waiver for farmers. As far as reservation was concerned, Yadav said that the state government should solve the issue keeping the constitutional aspects in mind.

After two days of abstaining from drinking water, Patel accepted water from Yadav, who told Patel to take care of his health and fight the “injustice”.
