As Kerala reels under the worst flood in close to a century, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will reach Thiruvananthapuram to take stock of the situation. He will reach the capital city at 10.50 pm on a special flight.

The prime minister will leave for Kochi on Saturday morning, accompanied by Governor S. Sathasivam and Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. He will conduct an aerial survey of the flood-hit areas.

After holding a meeting with the chief minister and other officials in Kochi later in the day, he will leave for Delhi in the evening.

Meanwhile, the death toll in rain-related incidents in the state has gone up to 324. Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Ernakulam and Thrissur districts are the most affected. Rescue operations are going on in full swing across the state.

At least 2,23000 people from around 52,856 families have been forced into relief camps.

Weathermen have predicted heavy rains in Ernakulam and Idukki districts on Saturday. All districts barring Kasaragod and Thiruvananthapuram will continue on high alert.
