The Supreme Court on Tuesday will hear the matter over Assam's National Register for Citizens (NRC) draft. The second draft which was released on July 30, did not include the names of nearly 40 lakh people. Out of the 3.29 crore applicants, the names of only 2.89 crore people were included.
The apex court had earlier observed that the process of filing objections aganinst the draft by those whose names were not included should be done in a fair manner.
Justice Ranjan Gogoi had directed the Centre to prepare a standard operating procedure (SOP) for claims and objections.
