An impromptu comment by one of the Tamil Nadu ministers triggered speculations in the social media that Rajinikanth could join AIADMK.
During a recent interview on a TV channel, Minister for Tamil Official Language and Tamil Culture Ma Foi K. Pandiarajan had said his party is not averse to the idea of Rajinikanth joining them.
A few months ago, Rajinikanth had said he can offer a rule that is similar to MGR.
When he was asked if Rajinikanth could come to the party with the proposal of an alliance, the minister had said, "it could be an alliance, or he could even join us," according to media reports.
The minister's comments came even as Rajinikanth is busy building a political base from booth level.
Pandiarajan, however, clarified later that all he meant was Rajinikanth could join AIADMK since many of the views expressed by the actor-turned-politician are similar to the AIADMK.
