A month after Kerala MLA K.B. Ganesh Kumar and his driver assaulted a youth for not giving way to their vehicle for overtaking, another legislator from the state on Tuesday night broke a stop barrier at a toll plaza in Thrissur.

MLA P.C. George was apparently provoked after the employees of Paliyekkara toll plaza asked him to pay the required toll. George, known for his outspoken nature, is the leader of a minor political outfit and was elected from Poonjar assembly constituency as an independent in the 2016 assembly election and is a six-time legislator from central Kerala.

George told Manorama News that he stepped out of the car as there was a delay in collecting the fee, causing a traffic block. CCTV footage showed George and his aides coming out of the car and vandalising a barricade. They left the spot after that. The toll counter was being handled by staff from other states.

George said he does not regret the incident as he was not allowed to go despite his car having a name board saying 'MLA'. George was on his way to Kochi from Thrissur in a luxury car.

The toll plaza staff have filed a complaint at the Puthukad police station.

George is not new to controversies. His brazen comments targeting several people had hogged headlines earlier. In the latest of such incidents, George had allegedly made insensitive remarks against the family of Jesna Maria, a college student who has gone missing since May 22. The family moved the Kerala High Court against the remarks, following which the court asked politicians to show restrain while making statements on the issue.

A video of George throwing up abusive words at staff of an electricity office had gone viral a few years ago. In another video, George was heard using casteist slurs to insult a priest.
