Gujarat Congress in-charge Rajiv Satav on Saturday expressed confidence that his party would win more seats than the BJP in Gujarat in 2019 Lok Sabha elections. In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, the saffron party had won all the 26 seats and Congress drew a blank in the state.

Satav was speaking at the launch of 'Project Shakti', a mobile phone-based project that helps party workers connect directly with Congress chief Rahul Gandhi, at the party's state headquarters in Ahmedabad. Through 'Project Shakti' the Congress chief will be able to get the pulse and understand the concerns of party workers.

Satav said Rahul Gandhi will be in the state on July 16 and 17, and added that this is only the beginning of his upcoming visits to the state. “Rahul Gandhi had said earlier that he would like to come to Gujarat more frequently and this visit is part of that,” he added

Borrowing a line a Bollywood movie, Satav said what happened in 2017 assembly elections was a trailer. “Picture abhi baaki hai,” he quipped. In 2017, the Congress had fared well in the assembly elections although the BJP managed to come to power, winning 99 seats.

Speaking about 'Project Shakti', Gujarat Pradesh Congress president Amit Chawda said unlike other parties, the Congress is not using anyone's personal data to induct people into the party through this platform. He explained that anyone who believes in the Congress ideology can register on 'Project Shakti' by providing the voter ID number.

Leader of opposition in the state assembly Paresh Dhanani said there will be fewer mistakes in the selection of candidates as the party leadership will now be able to get direct feedback from people through Project Shakti.
