Two terrorists, one Army jawan killed in Kashmir encounter

Two militants and an Army personnel were killed in an encounter in Jammu and Kashmir's Bandipora district on Thursday, officials said.

"Two terrorists have been killed in an ongoing operation in Panar forest area of Bandipora district (in north Kashmir)," a defence spokesman said.

The identity and group affiliation of the two militants is being ascertained.

The army personnel sustained serious bullet wounds during the operation. Though he was immediately evacuated to a military hospital, he succumbed to his injuries.

A search operation was initiated in the area earlier this week after an Army patrol team were fired at by militants.

On Tuesday two police personnel were killed and three others were injured in a terrorist attack in Pulwama district.

Last weekend, in jungles of Panhar area of Bandipora district, terrorists fired at an army patrol party.
