The BJP on Thursday lashed out at Chief Minister Siddaramaiah for adopting "diversionary tactics" by calling Prime Minister Narendra Modi a "north India import" instead of talking about the state government's performance.

BJP general secretary P. Muralidhar Rao flayed Siddaramaiah for "diverting" public attention from his party's performance to non-issues like calling Modi as a "north India import."

"Any reasonable man can easily understand when a national political party's leader occupying the chair of chief minister talks about the prime minister of India as a"north India import. What does it mean?" Rao said.

It was very unfortunate that instead of talking about" the government's performance, the chief minister was adopting "diversionary tactics," he said.

Highlighting the contrast between Modi and Siddaramaiah,"Rao said the prime minister emphasises upon issue based"politics and performance while Siddaramaiah speaks about the"divide of north India and south India.

Releasing the party's report card on the health sector in Karnataka, Rao said about one-third of the sanctioned posts were lying vacant.

In the last five years, 44,630 newborns died in Karnataka, which does not show the performance of the government in good light, he said.
