Even as RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav, now in a private room in the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi, is trying to bring opposition parties together for a joint strike against the BJP in 2019 Lok Sabha elections, things are not well for him at home in Patna, on a day when Prime Minister Narendra Modi was at Motihari in the state.

His wife and former Bihar chief minister Rabri Devi has written to Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, warning him that if anything untoward takes place with her or her family, the home ministry (of Bihar)  would be held responsible. She wrote the letter after the CBI raided their house in Patna on Tuesday, at the end of which the security guards posted there were withdrawn by the government.

An anguished Rabri Devi, in her dramatic style, told media that the chief minister was conspiring to harm them, and that her husband's life was in danger. She even expressed total distrust of the government. The security guards were apparently posted at their place given that Rabri is a former chief minister of the state.

In a  midnight tweet, Tejashwi Yadav who is  the acting president of the RJD said in Hindi that the chief minister had withdrawn the security “at the residence of two former chief ministers in a hurry, as if this will help him keep his chair”.

On Wednesday, Rabri Devi said that it was a conspiracy by Nitish Kumar, Sushil Kumar Modi (of the BJP) and the government. “Lalu ji is in jail and dying every day. Don't know if he's dying due to disease or being killed using medicines. His sugar level is rising. How do I trust the government? If the government asks us to vacate our house, we're ready to do it.”
