A slip of the tongue is not an uncommon occurrence. But when it happens to a senior politician who is eyeing for the chief minister's chair, it is would certainly lead to a few laughs.

DMK working president M.K. Stalin became the darling of trollers on social media after he made not one but three slip of tongues in the past few days. His faux pas have now gone viral.

On March 22, at a book launch event in Chennai, Stalin messed up when he quoted a popular Tamil proverb to say that the 2G verdict came before the 2G book written by A Raja, to say the DMK is clean. He quoted the proverb Yaanai varum pinne, mani osai varum munne (the sound of the bell comes before the elephant) in an apparent attempt to make his point clear. However, he ended up saying Yaanai varum munne, mani osai varum pinne (the elephant comes before the sound of the bell)—which is the exact opposite of what he intended to say.

Within minutes trolls began; Stalin was mocked for not knowing Tamil proverbs, and a hashtag appeared on Twitter #stalinpazhamozhigal, meaning Stalin proverbs.

On March 25, while speaking at the party’s conference in Erode, he again made such an error. While trying to ridicule the entry of Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth into politics. He read from a paper, “Some people are waiting in queue to get into politics, saying they are in the centre, like poonai mel madhil (wall on a cat). What he meant to say was madhil mel poonai which would mean cat on the wall.

In the same speech, while taking on Rajinikanth who said he is entering into politics to fill the vacuum left by the demise of J. Jayalalithaa and silence of Karunanidhi, Stalin said, “ A vacuum is filed as it is cried.” What the DMK leader wanted to say was “a vacuum is filled when it is created.”

Not unexpectedly, trollers had a field day!
