An FIR was registered against pro-Pakistan forum Dukhtaran-e-Millat (DeM) for celebrating Pakistan Day by singing national anthem of the country and unfurling its flag on Friday.

The day was celebrated by burqa-clad DeM activists, led by Asiya Andrabi, to prevent the police from stopping the event from taking place. The FIR was registered after the DeM uploaded the video of the event on the internet and circulated the same on WhatsApp.

The DeM has been celebrating Pakistan Day and Pakistan's Independence Day on August 14 every year for many years now. Its workers also distribute sweets to mark the occasion.

The police have booked DeM members under various sections of Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and started investigations.

"It has come to the notice of the police about certain unlawful acts of DeM outfit through social media videos and reliable sources where they have indulged in acts inviting penal provisions for offenses under various sections of UA(P) Act,” a police spokesman said in a statement.

The spokesman said burqa-clad women also raised anti-national slogans and made hate/provocative speeches, inviting charges under various sections of penal code.

Andrabi also addressed the DeM workers and activists and urged them to work towards making Kashmir a part of Pakistan.

“Jammu and Kashmir is a place that's struggling for the last 70 years to be a part of Pakistan on the basis of ideology,'' Andrabi said in a statement. ''We will continue our struggle until J&K becomes a part of Pakistan on the Islamic principles.”

She said Muslims of Jammu and Kashmir and Pakistan aspire to live together in Pakistan under Islamic rule.

“Pakistan will be a place where every system will be based on the Islamic principles and Allah's orders and laws will be of supreme importance,” Andrabi said.

Andrabi is considered one the radical separatists whose group is openly supporting the demand to make Kashmir a part of Pakistan.

Her husband, Qasim Faktoo, is in prison for the last 20 years on charges of terrorism.
