Supreme Court extends Aadhaar linking deadline


The Supreme Court on Tuesday extended the deadline for linking of Aadhaar with various services till it delivers its judgment on its constitutional validity of the biometrical identification scheme. 

The order was announced by the five-judge constitutional bench headed by Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra. He noted that the extension will not affect the linking of Aadhaar with the disbursal of benefits under social schemes. 

On Decemer 15 the deadline for linking Aadhaar with services such as phones and banking was set for March 31.
