Netflix has officially released the trailer for "Michael Jackson: The Verdict", a three-part documentary series revisiting one of the most talked-about legal battles in entertainment history. Directed by Nick Green and executive produced by Fiona Stourton, the series premieres globally on June 3, 2026.
The documentary revisits Michael Jackson’s 2005 trial through the perspectives of original jury members, journalists, attorneys, and others involved in the case, examining events from both the prosecution and defence sides.
Since cameras were banned from the courtroom and a gag order was imposed during the proceedings, the filmmakers said the public only saw parts of what happened.
“It has been 20 years since the trial of Michael Jackson, in which he was found not guilty. Yet controversy continues,” the filmmakers said. “No cameras were allowed in court, so the public’s understanding of the case was shaped by outside commentary. It was time to take a forensic look at the trial as a whole.”
After a 14-week trial in Santa Maria, the jury of eight women and four men deliberated for more than 30 hours over seven days before acquitting Jackson on all 10 felony charges on June 13, 2005. He had faced the possibility of more than 20 years in prison.
“Anyone interested in the Michael Jackson story should feel this documentary gives them a window into what was largely a closed event and a chance to feel closer to what happened,” Green and Stourton added.
The upcoming series arrives as discussions around Jackson’s life, legacy, and controversies continue, especially amid renewed interest following the success of his biopic "Michael".
