Malayalam actor Sreenath Bhasi has been arrested on Monday, in connection to a case where he allegedly verbally abused the female anchor and crew during a promotional interview for his film Chattambi. He was arrested after the police summoned him for questioning.
According to reports, in a complaint filed with the Maradu police in Kochi, the anchor stated that Bhasi had used explicit language. The actor, however, has denied the allegations. Police have also sought a video clip of the interview.
The incident happened when the interviewer asked Bhasi to rate his Chattambi co-stars based on their 'rowdiness'. The lighthearted question, however, did not sit well with Bhasi. In the video, he is seen telling the interviewer to not ask silly questions and lose his cool. He is also seen asking the crew to turn off the camera.
According to the crew of the entertainment portal, he used foul language and insulted the interviewers. In the wake of the incident, another old video of Bhasi losing his cool with an RJ has also been doing the rounds.
Chattambi released in theatres on September 23.
