A special Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) court in Mumbai, on Thursday, extended the judicial custody of Aryan Khan, son of Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan, and seven others, arrested in connection with the case of seizure of banned drugs aboard a cruise ship off the Mumbai coast.

On October 7, the court had sent Aryan Khan and others to 14-day judicial custody.

Neither Aryan Khan nor the other accused were produced in court on Thursday either physically or via video conference.

The special court had, on Wednesday, denied bail to Aryan Khan, observing that “on the face of it”, he was indulging in "illicit drug activities on a regular basis". Aryan Khan subsequently moved the Bombay High Court to challenge the lower court's order. The HC is set to hear the bail plea on October 26.

Aryan Khan was arrested with a few others on October 3 after the NCB raided a cruise ship off the Mumbai coast and claimed to have seized drugs.

On Thursday morning, Shah Rukh Khan met his son at the Arthur Road jail in Mumbai where the latter has been lodged.
