Actor-politician Rajinikanth will receive this year's Dadasaheb Phalke Award, India's highest film honour, Union Minister Prakash Javadekar tweeted on Thursday.
“Happy to announce this year's Dadasaheb Phalke award to one of the greatest actors in the history of Indian cinema Rajnikant ji. His contribution as actor, producer and screenwriter has been iconic," Javadekar wrote.
Rajinikanth made his debut in 1975 with K Balachander's Apoorva Ragangal. The actor was last seen in AR Murugadoss's Darbar.
