Veteran Bollywood actor Anil Kapoor revealed that he was always ready to experiment with characters that are old and have played such roles in the initial years of his career.

In an interview with Tiffin Talks, the actor, when asked about playing the role of Priyanka Chopra's father in the movie Dil Dhadakne Do, said he was a little apprehensive in the beginning as there were films that they were supposed to do in which they were romantically involved.

He said it was his son  Harsh Varrdhan Kapoor who convinced him to play the character saying, "dad, you are not playing actually her father, you are playing a role." Sometimes you need "broadminded, forward thinking kids around you who put sense into you," the actor said.

He further said his son was also instrumental in him accepting the role in the Danny Boyle movie Slumdog Millionaire as he had forgotten who Boyle was although he had seen the movie The Beach and had even brought his son a poster of the movie Trainspotting.

Kapoor said he does not dream about achievements in terms of the number of fans or fancy things that he can buy. "I dream about characters, about which is the other role I can do. I never envy the success of other actors, but I envy when someone gives a good performance," he said.

On the work front, Kapoor was last seen in the  black comedy thriller AK vs AK, in which he played himself. He will be next be seen in the romantic drama Jug Jugg Jeeyo, also starring Varun Dhawan, Kiara Advani and Prajakta Koli in the lead roles.
