Aamir Khan’s daughter Ira Khan, who had recently opened about her depression, has shared about her experience and the advice she has received.

She revealed this in the first part of a series of videos she plans to upload on her Instagram account where she talks about depression.

She captioned the video: “What can you say to someone who’s depressed as way of advice when you don’t really know how their depression is

effecting them?” she wrote in her caption. “What should you say? What should you not say?”

She said she was asked by many to keep busy, but she realised that keeping busy was exactly what she should not have been doing. She said doctors told her to ‘slow down’ and not keep jumping from one thing to another. She added that depression affects different people differently, and according to their behaviours, it pushes certain parts of the personality into extremes.

Ira said that she used to enjoy working out, but has now come to dread it, which is a bad situation to be in. “I used to work out a lot, but now I’m scared of working out, which is frustrating, because I loved working out a lot,” she said.

On World Mental Health Day in October, Ira had revealed via a video on Instagram, that she has been suffering from depression for more than four years.

She wrote in the caption, “A lot has been going on, a lot of people have a lot to say. Things are really confusing and stressful and simple and okay but not okay and… life all together. There’s no way to say it all in one go. But I’d like to think I’ve figured some stuff out, or at least figured out how to make it slightly more understandable. About mental health and mental ill-health. So come with me on this journey… in my awkward, quirky, sometimes-baby-voice-y, as-honest-as-I-can-be… way. Let’s start a conversation. Happy World Mental Health Day.”
