After veteran actress and MP Jaya Bachchan hit out at actor-politician Ravi Kishan’s statements about drug addiction in the film industry, Kishan said he expected her to support him.

“I expected Jaya ji to support what I said. Not everyone in the industry consumes drugs but those who do are part of a plan to finish the world's largest film industry. When Jaya ji & I joined, situation was not like this but now we need to protect the industry,” Ravi Kishan said.

Jaya Bachchan said on Tuesday that the image of the entire film fraternity cannot be tarnished due to some people. She has given a Zero Hour notice to discuss the issue of the film industry being defamed.

Kangana Ranaut also questioned Jaya Bachchan’s stand on the issue. “Show compassion,” she said. “Jaya ji would you say the same thing if in my place it was your daughter Shweta beaten, drugged and molested as a teenage, would you say the same thing if Abhieshek complained about bullying and harassment constantly and found hanging one day? Show compassion for us also,” she tweeted.

"Just because of a few people, you cannot tarnish the whole industry. I was ashamed yesterday that one of the members in the Lok Sabha, who is from the industry itself, spoke ill of the industry. Jis thaali me khaate hain usi me chched karte hain," Jaya Bachchan said in the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday, referring to the BJP MP's statement in Lok Sabha. On Monday Ravi had raised the issue of ‘drug mafia-bollywood’ nexus in the Parliament.

This comes amid the raging controversy over actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s death and the drug probe linked to his death. Actress Rhea Chakraborty, her brother Showik Chakraborty and others have been arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau in connection with the case.
