Social media users who have witnessed the vilification of actor Rhea Chakraborty by the media and politically motivated individuals came together to “blaze it up for Rhea” on Wednesday by posting pictures with cannabis or weed.

The hashtag #BlazeItUpForRhea was trending on Wednesday with more than 10,000 tweets on it as Twitterati came out in support of the actor.

Many took to Twitter with pictures of lit joints and cannabis plants, but called it by other names such as methi (fenugreek) and dhaniya (coriander) among other things, so as to not get into any legal trouble.

Rhea Chakraborty has been in the eye of a storm since Sushant Singh Rajput’s death, with his family accusing her of abetting his suicide and for being after his money.

Several users have slammed TV news channels and politicians of politicising Sushant’s death while propagating a malicious campaign against Rhea and her family.

Rhea has been sent to a 14-days custody after investigative agencies including the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Enforcement Directorate (ED) and Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) probed her involvement in Sushant’s death.

The NCB probe has been particularly damaging after the 28-year-old actor was accused of “procuring drugs” for Sushant and forcing him to consume it. Many have pointed out that cannabis is legal in several countries and is used for recreational and medical purposes.

One user said if Rhea can be arrested for buying weed, more than half of Mumbai will also have to be sent to jail for the same.
