Several Bollywood celebrities have responded to Kangana Ranaut’s tweet in which she said Mumbai feels like ‘Pakistan-occupied Kashmir’. She alleged that Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut had given her an ‘open threat’ and told her not to return to the city.

Celebs including Sonu Sood, Swara Bhaskar and Riteish Deshmukh have tweeted in support of Mumbai.

Tweeting in Hindi, Sonu Sood said that Mumbai is the city that changes people’s fates. If you give respect, you will get respect, he said.

Swara Bhasker expressed her love for the city, in just one line. “Mumbai meri jaan!,” she tweeted.

Actress Dia Mirza said that the city embraced her with open arms when she moved in at the age of 19, and has kept her safe.

Richa Chadha said that the city has ‘a large heart’. She tweeted: “Mumbai is truly cosmopolitan in SO many ways....grew up in Delhi and I can’t explain how much safer this city feels as a woman. It’s the commercial AND entertainment capital. And it has a large heart❣... large enough to occasionally forgive ingrates.”

Kangana had also triggered controversy with her statements on the use of drugs in Bollywood. In a series of tweets against ‘Bollywood drug mafia’ she said that Ranveer Singh, Ranbir Kapoor, Ayan Mukerji and Vicky Kaushik should give their blood samples for drug test as there are ‘rumours that they are cocaine addicts’.

Kangana had said that ’99 perc cent of superstars have been exposed to hard drugs’. In a TV interview, she alleged that a ‘character actor’ spiked her drink and took advantage of her during her early days in the film industry.
