This was after the Mumbai Police allegedly refused to cooperate with the probe

The probe into the death of Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput had become a game of one-upmanship between the Mumbai Police and Bihar Police.

Bihar Police began probing into the death of the actor after his father K.K. Singh lodged a complaint against Rhea Chakraborty and her family members, accusing them of abetting the Rajput's suicide.

However, the police team faced roadblocks when their Mumbai counterparts allegedly refused to cooperate with the probe. Patna City Superintendent of Police Vinayb Tiwari, who came to Mumbai to supervise the probe being conducted by his state police team, was quarantined by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation at the SRPF guest house in suburban Goregaon—a move that irked Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.

With the forced quarantine of the police officer, the case had devolved into a tiff between the two states, with Maharashtra Minister of State for Home Shambhuraj Desai saying that the Bihar police team in Mumbai did not follow established protocols.

Now, in an interview to mid-day, Qaisar Yasin, the investigating officer heading the Bihar police probe team, claimed that they had to come up with a few 'jugaad' to continue with the investigation in Mumbai.

He said when the Bihar Police probe team realised that they would not receive help from Mumbai Police with regard to the investigation, they "dressed up as astrologers and entered the world of Bollywood, and spoke to several people in the industry in connection with Rajput's death."

The Bihar Police team used their informers to tail Chakraborty, but when their counterparts in Mumbai were of no help, they decided to "use jugaad that comes in handy in Bihar all the time. We got costumes and became astrologers and met several people and recorded their statements," mid-day quoted Yasin as saying.
