The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) registered FIR against actor Rhea Chakraborty, Indrajit Chakraborty, Sandhya Chakraborty, Showik Chakraborty, Samuel Miranda, and Shruti Modi in connection with the death of Sushant Singh Rajput.
The Centre had, on Wednesday, accepted the Bihar government’s plea for CBI probe into the actor’s death. According to media reports, the the Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the CBI, which is currently probing the bank fraud case against Vijay Mallya and the AgustaWestland chopper deal, will investigate the death of the actor.
The charges against Chakraborty and others include abetment of suicide, criminal conspiracy, wrongful confinement, theft, cheating and intimidation. The FIR is expected to be uploaded on the agency's website soon.
The agency acted swiftly on a reference from the government in Bihar where the actor's father had lodged an FIR against Chakraborty.
Meanwhile, the Enforcement Directorate, which is probing the alleged money laundering case on the basis of a Bihar Police FIR, summoned Chakraborty. The actor has been asked to appear before the ED on Friday.
The the Enforcement Directorate is understood to have taken up the case after it analysed the contents of the FIR and gathered some independent information about Rajput's income, bank accounts and companies. The ED will probe allegations of mishandling and purported diversion of Rajput's money and operation of his bank accounts by Chakraborty.
Rajput was found hanging from the ceiling of his apartment in suburban Bandra in Mumbai on June 14. Mumbai police had registered an accidental death report and an investigation is underway in the case. So far, Mumbai Police has recorded statements of 56 people, including Rajput's sisters, Chakraborty and some other film personalities like Aditya Chopra, Mahesh Bhatt and Sanjay Leela Bhansali.
