Sushant Singh Rajput’s father has filed an FIR against the actor’s rumoured girlfriend and actress Rhea Chakraborty and six others in Patna. Speaking about it, Sushant’s father’s lawyer told ANI that he went ahead with the step because Mumbai Police wasn’t registering an FIR and alleged that they were ‘forcing the family to name big production houses’ in the case.

The case has been lodged under various sections of IPC, including 341 (punishment for wrongful restraint), 342 (punishment for wrongful confinement), 380 (theft in dwelling house), 406 (punishment for criminal breach of trust), 420 (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property) and 306 (abetment of suicide).

“FIR registered now as family was in shock & Mumbai Police wasn't registering FIR, but forcing them to give names of big production houses & get them involved. It was heading in a different direction,” said Vikas Singh, ex-Addl Solicitor General and lawyer of Sushant's father K.K. Singh.

He added: “Patna Police was a little hesitant but CM Nitish Kumar & Minister Sanjay Jha explained the matter to them and FIR was registered. We want that the matter be investigated by Patna Police. The family has not demanded for CBI investigation yet.”

According to reports, all the people named by Sushant's father in the FIR have been booked. “Preliminary investigation has begun. It is not correct to say at this point of time that who will be questioned. All those who were named by  Sushant Singh Rajput's father in the FIR, have been booked,” said Vinay Tiwari, Patna (Central) City SP told ANI.

Mumbai Police is already probing the alleged suicide case, and has questioned several Bollywood bigwigs, including filmmakers Mahesh Bhatt and Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Rhea Chakraborty has also recorded her statement.

Sushant's suspected death by suicide on June 14 has also triggered a debate on alleged nepotism and favouritism in the Hindi film industry. Several top production houses had allegedly boycotted the Patna-born actor, causing him distress and compelling him to end his life.
