As the news of gangster Vikas Dubey being killed in a police encounter broke on Friday morning, Bollywood filmmaker Rohit Shetty started trending on Twitter.
Netizens are having a field day sharing memes about the encounter, comparing it to the plot of Shetty’s Singham movie. Some of the users even said the encounter and the car overturn looked straight out of one of his cop movies and said cops were drawing inspiration from the filmmaker. Jokes apart, social media users are also criticising the UP police and Yogi government, calling Dubey's killing a 'fake encounter'.

Dubey, who was arrested in Ujjain on Thursday, was being brought to Lucknow by a team of UP special task force. The vehicle which carried Dubey reportedly overturned after which he tried to grab the pistol from one STF personnel. He was killed in an exchange of fire that followed.
On the work front, Shetty is awaiting release of Sooryavanshi. Sooryavanshi is the third film in Rohit's cop universe after Ajay Devgn's Singham and Ranveer Singh-starrer Simmba. This is Akshay and Rohit's first project together.
The movie also stars Katrina Kaif, while Ajay and Ranveer are reprising their characters for extended cameos.
