Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan may soon become the voice of Google Maps.

According to media reports, the actor was approached by Google, requesting him to lend his baritone voice for the navigating app. Currently, users hear the voice of Karen Jacobsen, an Australia-born and New York-based entertainer, singer and voice-over artist, on the app. She is also the voice of Apple’s Siri.

"Amitabh Bachchan has the most influential and recognisable baritone. Hence, he is the best choice for the voice of Google Maps. He has been approached, but the contract has not been signed yet," Mid-Day quoted sources as saying.

According to sources, it is up to the actor to accept the offer as he has been promised an exorbitant amount pf money as remuneration if he decides to take up the offer.

If the actor does accept the offer, he will be recording from his home owing to the social distancing norms.

However, neither Google nor Bachchan has commented on the report.

On the work front, Bachchan will be next seen in Gulabo Sitabo, a comedy-drama directed by Shoojit Sircar, also starring Ayushmann Khurrana in the lead. The movie will stream worldwide on Amazon Prime Video from June 12.
