As soon as Siddharth Malhotra and Tara Sutaria dropped the remix version of 'Masakali song' on Wednesday, fans of the original were quick to criticise it.

Much like the fans, music maestro AR Rahman, who composed the original, took to Twitter to express his feelings – and he is clearly unhappy. Sharing a note about the hard work and journey that went into the original, he took a dig at the recreated version. He captioned the post “Enjoy the original #masakali’.

The note read: “No short cuts, properly commissioned, sleepless nights, writes and re-writes. Over 200 musicians, 365 days of creative brainstorming with the aim to produce music that can last generations. A team of a Director, a Composer and a Lyricist supported by actors, dance directors and a relentless film crew.”

Rahman’s original version was from 2009 film Delhi 6 which featured Abhishek Bachchan and Sonam Kapoor. The song, penned by Prasoon Joshi, was sung by Mohit Chauhan.

Masakali 2.0 features a rain-drenched romantic couple- Siddharth and Tara. Composed by Tanish Bagchi, the remix is sung by Tulsi Kumar and Sachet Tandon. Sharing the recreated version on Twitter, Sidharth Malhotra wrote, "Seal it with love and your Masakali indoors! #Masakali2 out now."

While some users apptreacited their chemistry, many trolled them for ruining a masterpiece. Some also referenced similar remixes in recent times, which includes ‘Humma Humma’ and ‘Urvashi’ songs.

Siddharth and Tara were last seen together in Marjaavan.
