Malayalam filmmaker Omar Lulu, known for his film Oru Adaar Love, has confirmed that his next will be a mass entertainer featuring superstar Mammootty.

The director confirmed the same in an online chat with fans, the News Minute reported. In February, there were reports that Omar was teaming up with popular scriptwriter Dennis Joseph, who has penned multiple yesteryear hits of Mammootty and Mohanlal. The reports also suggested Lulu will rope in a superstar, but no name was mentioned. Referring to this film, Omar had said that he will blend in mass elements to suit the taste of fans, and keep away from distasteful jokes and ‘double meaning’ humour that have been characteristic features of most of his films. Omar has also faced criticism for these jokes that feature in his films that are mostly youth-centric.

Dennis has penned some of Mammootty’s evergreen hits like New Delhi, Nirakoottu, and Kottayam Kunjachan.

Mammootty was last seen in Shylock, directed by Ajai Vasudev. The action film was seen as tribute to fans of the actor who celebrate his characteristic mannerisms and style. He was also seen in Mamangam, a period drama directed by M. Padmakumar. The lavishly-mounted film saw the 67-year-old actor in the role of a warrior. The story was set against a religious festival held once every 12 years at Thirunavaya, on the banks of Bharatapuzha in Kerala.

He will also essay his character Bilal John Kurissinkal, in the upcoming film Bilal. However, according to reports, work on the project has been currently delayed due to the coronavirus scare in the country.

Mammootty also featured in the short film Family, that released on Monday. The film that spreads awareness on the importance of self-isolation featured Amitabh Bachchan, Rajinikanth, Mohanlal, Chiranjeevi, Priyanka Chopra, Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Prosenjit Chatterjee, Shiva Rajkumar, Sonalee Kulkarni and Diljit Dosanjh.
