Priyanka Chopra, Shah Rukh part of Lady Gaga’s event to raise funds for COVID-19

The virtual event will be live-streamed on April 18

Bollywood actors Priyanka Chopra and Shah Rukh Khan will be part of a virtual event organised by WHO, in collaboration with pop queen Lady Gaga, to rise support for coronavirus relief fund.

Priyanka, who is also a UNICEF goodwill ambassador, tweeted: “On April 18th, Global Citizen will host One World: Together At Home, the first of its kind global broadcast event in benefit of the WHO Covid-19 Solidarity Fund. We'll be honoring healthcare and front line essential communities.”

The event which will be live-streamed will feature performances by some great names including Elton John, Lady Gaga, Billie Eilish, Stevie Wonder and Paul McCartney. The event will also have special appearances by David Beckam and Idris Alba, who is currently under quarantine after being diagnosed with the novel coronavirus.

"We're excited to announce One World: Together At Home, a global broadcast on April 18, curated in collaboration with Lady Gaga and featuring your favourite artists and comedians - all in support of the WHO and healthcare workers on the frontlines of the COVID-19 crisis," tweeted Global Citizen.

The One World: Together At Home event will be hosted by international talk show hosts Jimmy Kimmel, Stephen Colbert and Jimmy Fallon.

Both Shah Rukh and Priyanka have been actively contributing to the fight against the pandemic. Besides posting awareness videos and busting myths related to the virus, the actor has also pledged to contribute to a variety of initiatives. His companies will contribute to PM CARES fund and Maharashtra Chief Minister's Relief Fund. Besides, he had also extended support to healthcare workers and said KKR and Meer Foundation will work with the West Bengal and Maharashtra governments and contribute 50,000 personal protective equipment kits.Other announcements made by the actor are working with Ek Saath-The Earth Foundation to provide daily food to over 5,500 families in Mumbai and setting up a kitchen to send out 2,000 freshly cooked meas every day. Meer Foundation will also work with Roti Foundation to provide three lakh meal kits.

Priyanka and husband Nick Jonas, currently in the US, have also been active on social media, hosting Q&A sessions with health experts to clear doubts about the pandemic. Priyanka had announced that the couple has donated to organisations like the PM-CARES Fund, Unicef, Feeding America among many others.
