Kangana put on 20kg for 'Thalaivi', will shed it in 2 months for 'Dhaakad'

Actress Kangana Ranaut has back-to-back projects in line, and her recent poster from Jayalalithaa biopic Thalaivi went viral for her uncanny resemblance to the former Tamil Nadu chief minister. In a video posted on Instagram, Kangana revealed she gained 20kg for the film, and that she will have to shed it all for her upcoming film Dhaakad.

In the short video, Kangana says she was 52kg earlier and will have to get back to her original weight in two months. The video shows her trainer Yogesh who says he has full confidence Kangana can do it. Kangana also has another project—Tejas—for which she has up her fitness levels.

Kangana's sister Rangoli Chandel also took to Twitter to share pictures of the actress. She wrote: “Only last schedule to go for #Thalaivi Kangana has gained 20 kgs weight, After 2 months she starts #Tejas & #Dhaakad.... will she be able to shed that weight, let’s see”

Directed by A.L. Vijay, Thalaivi, a multilingual film will also see Arvind Swami play actor-politician MGR. Thalaivi also features Priyamani as Sasikala. The film's screenplay is by Baahubali fame Vijeyendra Prasad.

The upcoming project Dhaakad will be "one of a kind female-led action film', Kangana had said. The movie will be helmed by acclaimed ad filmmaker Razneesh 'Razy' Ghai and jointly produced by Sohel Maklai Productions and Asylum Films and co-produced by Qyuki Digital Media. The makers are looking to rope in a leading action director from Hollywood to choreograph the elaborate sequences. Filming will take place across India, South East Asia, the Middle East and Europe. The film is scheduled to be released on Diwali 2020.

In Tejas, Kangana will essay an Indian Air Force pilot. Talking about Tejas, Kangana said in a statement, "Very often the sacrifices made by our brave women in uniform go unnoticed by the nation. Tejas is a film where I have the honour of playing the role of one such Air Force pilot that puts country before self .
