Author Chetan Bhagat, on Tuesday, sparked a Twitter trend with a tweet that can be seen as a dig at PM Modi's silence about the ongoing Delhi violence in the midst of Donald Trump's India visit. He tweeted: “Papa is sitting with guests in the drawing room and family members are fighting loudly in the other room. Very bad.”

This was enough to set off the keyword 'papa' trending, and users are replying to the tweet with interesting comebacks and punchlines.

A head constable of Delhi Police was killed and a deputy commissioner of police injured as clashes broke out for the second day on Monday in northeast Delhi's Jaffrabad and Maujpur during protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act. Several houses, shops and vehicles were set on fire as two groups, for and against the CAA, clashed each other. Violence was also reported from Chandbagh and Bhajanpura areas. A petrol pump was set on fire in Bhajanpura. By Tuesday, eight people were killed in the protests.

Police fired tear gas shells to disperse the protesters. As violence escalated, Delhi Metro has closed Jaffrabad, Maujpur-Babarpur, Gokulpuri, Johri Enclave and Shiv Vihar stations. The police also imposed section 144 of the CrPC, which prohibits assembly of four or more people, in areas affected by violence in northeast Delhi.

The violence came hours before Trump landed in the national capital. Trump and First Lady Melania are on a two-day visit to India. The Trumps arrived in Ahmedabad around noon on Monday for the first leg of their visit. The US president was feted at the world's largest cricket stadium in the "Namaste Trump" event and was cheered by tens of thousands of people. From Ahmedabad, he and his delegation travelled to Agra where they visited the Taj Mahal. The Trumps arrived in Delhi around 7.30 pm on Monday, and held extensive talks with Modi at Hyderabad House on Tuesday.

In January, Bhagat had tweeted in support of activists protesting against the NRC and CAA. “Can’t let a country burn to save ego,” he had said.
