Bollywood star Kangana Ranaut is considered to be one of the most versatile actors of today. The actor's filmography, from Queen to the upcoming Jayalalithaa biopic Thalaivi is a testament to the fact that Ranaut hasn't been a victim of typecast.

While her filmography may consist of films that gave her ample opportunities to showcase her talent, there are also a few films which had her playing characters that lacked substance. In a recent interview to Mumbai Mirror, the actor explained the reasons she chose to do some films.

While speaking about her sister Rangoli Chandel's battle with acid attack, the actor said she wasn't financially strong to help Rangoli back then. “I did tacky films, took on roles I did not deserve, accepted guest appearances, so my sister could be treated by the best surgeon in India,” the actor was quoted as saying.

She also narrated the hardships she and the others in her family faced after her sister faced the acid attack. It was horrific, the Queen star said, adding, "You hurt if your loved one gets even a scratch or a pimple. So, you can imagine the kind of pain one would feel to see their face melt...I was just 19, on the threshold of a bright career, when the attack happened and it was a long, hard struggle to deal with this kind of perverse, sexist cruelty."

The actor also said she hasn't seen the movie Chhapaak in which Deepika Padukone played an acid attack survivor as she was busy with her latest movie Panga and added that she will certainly watch the movie.
