Advocate Aparna Bhat who represented acid attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal might sue makers of film Chhapaak because she was not given credit in the film. Chhapaak, directed by Meghna Gulzar, is based on Laxmi's life and her struggles, and Deepika plays an acid attack survivor.

Compelled to take legal action to protect my identity and preserve my integrity. I represented Lakshmi in her criminal trial in Patiala House Courts... tomorrow someone will represent me in my cause...Ironies of life,” Aparna wrote. After she posted her stand, many have been taking to social media, appreciating her for speaking out.

Meanwhile, Chhapaak is in the midst of another controversy with a clamour to boycott her film after she showed up at JNU on Tuesday night, in solidarity with the students who were attacked by a masked mob on campus. On the other hand, there were many who appreciated her for taking a bold stand as many of the Bollywood biggies were maintaining silence. Her Chhapaak co-star Vikrant Massey took to Twitter to praise her move and wrote that his heart 'swells with pride'. Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap changed his Twitter profile picture to that of Deepika at JNU.
