Malayalam actor Dulquer Salmaan took to social media to reveal he has started work on his next film Kurup. The crime thriller, which was initially announced almost two years back, is centred around Sukumara Kurup, often referred to as Kerala's most wanted criminal.

“At last, we just switched on our very ambitious Kurup! We will strive and do our best to give you all a very special film! Wishing our entire team the very best of luck! Lots of love & prayers,” Dulquer tweeted, also sharing a video from the film's launch ceremony.

In 1984, Sukumara Kurup faked his own death by killing another man and burning the body in a car. Kurup, who committed the crime for the insurance money, has been absconding.

Kurup marks director Srinath Rajendran's second collaboration with Dulquer—seven years after Dulquer's debut film Second Show which Srinath helmed.

In May, Srinath had shared a post about the film, and a poster also.
