Even as the Supreme Court on Monday asked the Election Commission to watch the biopic of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and come up with its views by April 22, the trailer of the movie can no longer be found on YouTube.

A search on YouTube throws up a few results, but none of it show the actual trailer of the movie, directed by Omung Kumar and starring Vivek Oberoi as Narendra Modi.

The trailer may have been taken down after the Election Commission stayed the release of the movie, citing Model Code of Conduct. The movie was expected to hit theatres on April 11. The Election Commission order banning the Modi biopic stated: “.. any poster or publicity material concerning any such certified content, which either depicts a candidate (including prospective) for the furtherance (or purported to further) of electoral prospects, directly or indirectly, shall not be put on display in electronic media in the area where MCC is in force."

The producers of the movie approached the Supreme Court against the stay, claiming the movie was not a political propaganda, but an “inspiring story”. has The opposition parties had criticised the movie, saying it would give an unfair advantage to the saffron party in the Lok Sabha elections.

The next hearing on the movie will be held on April 22.
