The winter is finally here, the wights are closer to Winterfell than they ever was, and the end is coming for us all. Even as fans of Game of Thrones are relentlessly spinning theories and counter-theories to figure out how many of their favorite characters will survive the final battle, a special screening of the first episode of the last season was held in New York City recently.

According to GQ, which was granted a special entry for the screening, this is one of the best season opener in the history of the show. The first episode reportedly packs plenty of surprises and unforgettable moments and has some series-defining scenes.

The episode is just under an hour and could be over even before you realise it as it is really pacy and relentless.

GQ claims that the episode could also be one of the funniest in the whole show, with plenty of laugh-out-aloud moments. This despite some of the major characters in the show not even having a line to say.

And what is Game of Thrones without a sex scene or two. According to GQ, despite the looming threat from the Army of the Dead, the Westeros folk do take out some time to make love.

Media reports also reveal that the most anticipated battle of Winterfell is likely to take place in episode three of the show and the battle, for the want of a better word, will be epic.
