The trailer of Prithviraj's upcoming psychological thriller, 9, was released on Wednesday. The trailer opens with a birthday celebration, and later we see Prithviraj kneeling down to hug a boy as he says: “Happy birthday, Adam.”
From there the subtle instrumental background score builds tempo and we see glimpses of the Prithviraj and Mamta Mohandas on a bike, Adam being expelled from school, graveyards, Buddhist monks, pine forests and the Himalayas. Most parts of the trailer have dark undertones, and limited lighting with fire being a key element. Veteran actor Prakash Raj appears in a pivotal role.
Though not much has been talked about the story of the film so far, the trailer manages to send a chill down the spine. It seems like a plot that revolves around dealing with your hidden fears.
In another promotional strategy, the trailer will be telecast simultaneously on 15 Malayalam television channels at 9pm on Wednesday.
Directed by Jenuse Mohamed, the film is jointly bankrolled by Prithviraj Productions and SPE Films. To be distributed by Sony Pictures, 9 also marks Sony Pictures' entry into Mollywood.
9 is set to release on February 7.
