Bollywood superstars Salman Khan and Aamir Khan have had a dream run at China's box office with films like Sultan, Dangal and Bajrangi Bhaijaan. Now it is Tamil actor Vijay's turn to try his luck. Vijay-starrer Mersal has been picked by China's HGC Entertainment for release in the country.
The film which will be dubbed into Mandarin will release in China later this year or early next year. The film which released in India in 2017 is Atlee's directorial venture. Mersal, which had run into controversy over its critical references of GST, had crossed over rs 250 crore at the global box office.
While Vijay plays a 'triple role' in Mersal, the film also featured Nithya Menen, Kajal Aggarwal and Samantha Akkineni in key roles. Oscar-winning music composer A.R. Rahman scored music for the action thriller whose story was penned by Baahubali writer Vijayendra Prasad.
