After a long hiatus, the Backstreet Boys are back with a heavy new single. A million teen hearts shattered as the most famous boy band in history dropped the brand new Don’t Go Breaking My Heart. And no, it’s not a cover of the Elton John-Kiki Dee hit.

The Backstreet boys celebrate 25 years of their formation in 2018, and they are set to release their ninth album sometime later this year. In a recent interview, band member Brian Littrel said, “I’m excited. Backstreet Boys, we don’t stop. We just keep going. We’ve got a new album coming out in September or October, and we’ve got a brand new world tour commencing in spring 2019, with dates in the UK and Ireland. We just celebrated 25 years together last month and are still kickin'.”

As far as we can see, the Boys are sticking to the elements that defined their iconic music career—the cheesy romance, synchronised dancing and matching outfits, among others. Watching the Backstreet Boys dancing in a neon-lit background certainly brings back memories. The music video was directed by their longtime collaborator Rich + Tone and a new deal with RCA Records. It features the Backstreet Boys, although they are anything but 'boys' now, singing their hearts out. Band member Kevin Richardson said, “The minute we heard this song we knew it was special. I geeked out over the piano and synths. When that groove drops on the second verse, COME ON. Great verse, hook and melodies. Just makes you wanna listen over and over again.”

Catering to the evolving tastes of a young audience, the Backstreet Boys have ditched their 90s melody songs for a new chill electro-pop genre, and EDM-inspired backdrops. Even their music video features some heavy dance moves. In a way, it is reminiscent of a modern version of their hit, I Want It That Way. Even the lyrics steal us away as it goes, 'Baby, don’t go breaking my heart… Cause it’s the only one I got'.”

This music video will redefine how you look at the Backstreet Boys. Guess Charlie Puth, who roasted the Backstreet Boys in the TBS rap battle Drop The Mic has been proved wrong; they have aged like fine wine. The Backstreet Boys are going to give the new boy bands a run for their money.
