Pregnant Pakistani singer Samina Samoon was shot dead for not standing up while singing during a ceremony. According to reports, the incident took place on Tuesday in Pakistan's Larkana district.
Tarique Ahmed Jatoi reportedly shot at the 24-year-old singer after she refused to comply to his request to stand up. Though she was rushed to the hospital, she was pronounced dead.
According to a report in the Dawn, the slain singer's husband said she had been six months pregnant. He demanded that the first information report should mention that the man who shot her and two of his accomplices are accused of double murder—that of the woman and her unborn child.
