Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday hailed the inauguration of the four-floor India Pavilion at Dubai’s Expo 2020 in a virtual message, calling on the world to invest in India.

"I call upon all those at the #Expo2020Dubai to visit the India Pavilion for a glimpse of India and to come to our nation to explore the countless avenues of economic and cultural cooperation. #IndiaAtDubaiExpo", PM Modi tweeted.

“I’m sure the Expo will go a long way in further building our deep and historical relations in the UAE and with Dubai,” he said in a virtual address, noting that this was the first Expo to be held in the Middle East, Africa and South Asia region.

“The main theme of Expo 2020 is ‘Connecting minds, creating the future’. The spirit of this theme is also seen in India’s efforts as we move ahead to create a new India,” he said.

"The theme of India Pavilion is 'openness, opportunity and growth'. Today India is one of the most open countries in the world. Open to learning, open to perspectives, open to innovation, open to investment—that is why I invite you to come and invest in our nation,” he said.

“Today, India is a land of opportunities, be it in the fields of arts or commerce, industry or academia, there is opportunity to discover, opportunity to partner, opportunity to progress. Come to India and explore this opportunity. India also offers you maximum growth: Growth in scale, growth in ambition, growth in results. Come to India and be a part of our growth story," he said.

The India Pavilion was inaugurated by Union Minister Piyush Goyal, who said India was among few countries to be allowed to retain a pavilion even after the Expo ended.

“We will keep UAE as a base showing India as an emerging superpower,” he said.

“UAE and India have shared interest. We are not in competition, we complement each other. UAE investors and its leaders are very positive about doing business and expanding trade with India,” he said.

“Throughout the pandemic, Indians wanted to come back home. But UAE didn't let any Indian go because they did not want them to go. They took care of them like their own family members. It's a huge message about love and affection," he said.

The Indian Pavilion is a four-story structure that is divided into two sections. It includes 11 key topics with zones based on Climate and Biodiversity, Space, Urban and Rural Development, Tolerance and Inclusivity, Golden Jubilee, Knowledge and Learning, Travel and Connectivity, Global Goals, Health and Wellness, Food Agriculture and Livelihoods, and Water.

The India Pavilion also included a model of the planned Hindu temple in Dubai.
