Many electric cars, makeovers, and concepts are expected at Asia’s largest automotive show
Maruti
India’s largest carmaker is expected to reveal its SUV electric concept Futuro E, the S-Cross’s petrol version, the Ignis with some cosmetic changes and possibly the hybrid version of the Swift.
Hyundai
The Creta SUV and Verna sedan might get a makeover, BS VI engines and hopefully some connectivity features. The Grand i10 Nios may get an added option of a more powerful engine. The show stopper, however, would be the Le Fil Rouge concept coupe, which was shown at the Geneva Motor Show in 2018.
Tata Motors
The much-awaited Gravitas, the 7-seater variant of the Harrier SUV, will be Tata’s flagship SUV. The Harrier itself will be updated with a BSVI diesel engine, automatic transmission option and a panoramic sunroof. An electric version of the Altroz hatch and the pre-production model of the H2X micro-SUV are also expected.
Mahindra
A concept electric XUV500, the pre-production model of the electric XUV300 and the pocket-friendly eKUV100 will be the highlights.
Mercedes-Benz
The German luxury carmaker will unveil the Marco Polo edition of the V-Class and the AMG GT 4-door Coupe.
Volkswagen
Four new SUVs, including the MEB platform-based electric SUV and the Taigun (will compete with the Creta and the Seltos) are the main attractions
Kia Motors
The pre-production model of the sub-4m SUV QYI (it shares the platform and engines with the Hyundai Venue) and an off-reader concept version of the hot cake Seltos will be the main attractions. The Carnival, which was unveiled last month and will compete with the Toyota Innova Crysta, will be launched at the AutoExpo.
MG Motors
A six-seater version of the popular Hector SUV and a premium SUV called Gloster, which will compete with the Toyota Fortuner and Ford Endeavour are the biggest expectations from the Chinese-owned British carmaker.
Renault
The HBC, a compact SUV, is the French carmaker’s biggest draw.
Skoda
The Vision IN, an SUV the size of the Creta and Seltos will be showstopper. The updated Octavia and Superb would also be there.
Great Wall Motor
The Chinese carmaker will enter the Indian Market with the electric concepts called Concept H, a mid-size SUV, and Vision 2025, which is also an SUV.
