WPI inflation falls to 0.33% in September

The wholesale price index-based inflation has fallen in September to 0.33 per cent as against 1.08 per cent in August, showed government data on Monday. 

The WPI-based inflation was 5.22 per cent during the corresponding month the previous year. 

"Build up inflation rate in the financial year so far was 1.17 per cent, compared to a build up rate of 3.96 per cent in the corresponding period of the previous year," the data released by the Centre stated. The September WPI inflation is at the lowest level since June 2016. The government also revised July WPI inflation to 1.17 per cent from earlier 1.08 per cent.

The rate of price rise for the food articles was at 7.47 per cent during September, while that for non-food articles stood at 2.18 per cent, showed the data released by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
