Mounting an attack on Hillary Clinton, Donald Trump on Monday released a new ad seizing on Democratic presidential nominee's comments in which she called some of his supporters a "basket of deplorables" during a fund-raiser.

Titled "Deplorables," the ad is running in four battleground states, New York Times reported.

Aides to Republican presidential nominee Trump said the candidate planned to focus heavily on the comments in his speech on Monday in Baltimore to the National Guard Association.

The ad shows clips of Trump supporters at his rallies, packed up against railings and banisters, as the audio of Clinton's comments plays over the applauding crowds.

"You could put half of Trump's supporters into what I call the basket of deplorables. The racists, sexists, homophobic, xenophobic, Islamophobic, you name it," Clinton is shown saying.

The ad is rotating into the Trump campaign's existing buys on broadcast and cable in Ohio, Pennsylvania, North Carolina and Florida.

After word of her comments became public, Clinton expressed regret for them on Saturday.

"Last night I was ‘grossly generalistic,' and that's never a good idea," Clinton said, adding, "I regret saying ‘half'—that was wrong.
