Manhattan billionaire Donald Trump on Wednesday was elected the US President. Speaking after the announcement, he said, " Hillary Clinton called me just now. She congratulated us on our victory. We owe Hillary a major debt of gratitude for her contributions to the country. To all Republicans, Democrats and independents, I say, it is time we come together. I will be a president for all people."

"As I said from the start, ours was not a campaign, but a movement comprising people of all races, backgrounds and beliefs. We will start working together. We have tremendous potential. Every single American will have the opportunity to realise his/her potential. We will rebuild our infrastructure, which will be second to none. We will also, finally, take care of our great veterans. The time I spent amongst them was one of my greatest honours."

"I call upon the best and brightest to work with us. We will double our growth rate. We will get along with all other nations willing to get along with us. America will no longer settle for anything less than the best. I take this time to congratulate some who really helped me. First, I thank my parents who I know are looking down on me. My sisters, my brother Robert and my late brother Fred. To Melania, Fred, Ivanka, Tiffany, Baron -- I love you. I would like to thank my family," he said. He also thanked former New York Mayor Rudy Guiliani, Governor Chris Christie, Dr Ben Carson and RNC chairman Reince Priebus.

The Republican, a real estate magnate, is set to become the 45th President of the US.
