NorthEast United FC said that Chennai police have arrested two city-based youth in relation to the incident in which three northeast girls were harassed during a Hero Indian Super League (ISL) clash on Nov 23.

Vijay alias Tamil Selvan (18) and Karthik Kumar (20) were booked under the Tamil Nadu Prevention of Harassment of Women Act in connection with the November 23 incident, a police release said.

Selvan, engaged in selling mineral water cans, and Kumar, an engineering student, were arrested and produced before a court which remanded them to judicial custody.

A group of men surrounded the girls and mocked them with inappropriate signs during the match between Chennaiyin FC and NE United at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium.

In a video which is going viral, a man was seen dancing obscenely in front of one of the women.

"Thanks to a prompt action from @chennaipolice_ and DGP of TN, two Chennai based youth have been arrested and kept under judicial custody," NE United wrote on Twitter.
