Teenager Pranav Dhanawade was in for a pleasant surprise on Thursday. He received a gift from his role model and cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar for scoring a record breaking 1009 on Tuesday during a inter-school match.

Tendulkar, who wrote a tweet appreciating Dhanawade's record earlier, went a step ahead and gifted his autographed bat to the budding talent. The news was confirmed by the BCCI.

"Master Blaster @sachin_rt gifts his own autographed bat to #PranavDhanawade for his record breaking innings," tweeted BCCI, conforming Tendulkar's kind gesture.

Tendulkar on Tuesday was among the first cricketers to recognise and congratulate 15-year-old Mumbai teenager Dhanawade on his mind-boggling knock of 1009 in a school game on Tuesday.

"Congrats #PranavDhanawade on being the first ever to score 1000 runs in an innings. Well done and work hard. You need to scale new peaks!" Tendulkar had tweeted on Tuesday.

Dhanawade, a son of a autorickshaw driver, broke the world record while playing for KC Gandhi Higher Secondary School. He scored 1000 runs in just 323 deliveries with a jaw-dropping strike rate of 312.38 in the game against Arya Gurukul in the Bhandari Cup inter-school tournament organised by the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA).
