Six players from the Spanish football club Barcelona on Wednesday underwent blood and urine anti-doping tests after training, the Catalan club reported.

The players who were subjected to the tests are Gerard Pique, Sergio Busquets, Andrés Iniesta, Lionel Messi, Javier Mascherano and Jordi Alba, reports Efe news agency.

The Spanish Agency for Health Protection in Sport (AEPSAD) assumed the responsibility to conduct such tests in 2013, replacing the National Sports Council (CSD) of the country.

Wednesday's training was a recovery session held in a later than usual, as Tuesday's La Liga match against Eibar, which Barcelona won 6-1, ended close to midnight.

Barcelona coach Ernesto Valverde called all available first team players to the training session, along with Jokin Ezkieta, Marc Cucurella, Vitinho, Ruiz de Galarreta, Carles Aleña, Jose Arnaiz and Choco Lozano from Barcelona B.
